A cold and broken Hallelujah

A cold mist of sadness engulfed campus today as lamenting memories intertwined with hope for the future. today was the day Taylor remembered those we lost in the accident last year. those who are with the Lord right now. there was a blanket of grief upon us all, a doleful atmosphere of sorrow, reflected in the depressing, dreary rain pouring down the entire day. as the raindrops flowed like tears slowly trickling down, i was hit by a wave of melancholy. i felt for the distressed family and friends who knew what it was like to lose someone to close, to never be able to see that person again. for the parents, who would never get the chance to see their child grow up and make something of their lives.

and i sat alone in my room, pondering to myself, processing through this incident that in some ways, seemed to divide the freshmen class from the others since we weren't around when the accident happened. it's hard to identify and sympathize with others, especially those who knew the vicitims. some people don't want sympathy. they just wanna be left alone, wallowing in their grief or anger.
and i thought of what it must be like to lose a sibling, a friend. and i just can't understand that. the pain must be unbearable, beyond imagination. the emptiness surrounding where the person used to be. the memories that..would forever stay memories. the brokenness and the turbulent emotions churning inside. i guess loss is a part of life. and we all have to deal with it. one way or another. and i'm really grateful i have my Father in heaven to turn to in times like these.

but u know, the Lord works in mysterious ways i would never be able to comprehend. even though it seems like nothing good can come out of tragedies like these, i know that somehow, in some unknown way, this incident has and will bring glory to the Lord. death seems so terrifyingly cold, but eternal life after death is a source of comfort, something to look forward to, something to live for, something to work towards.

Hallelujah
