This week, one guy celebrated his 21st birthday, so we threw a surprise party for him that everyone, including him, knew about. The theme was '80s disco,' so we all got excited (the girls, especially) and dolled up for the occasion. People sported side ponytails, bright eyeshadow, pink cheeks and lips, teased hair, one-shoulder big t-shirts, leggings, legwarmers, plus all kinds of random stuff thrown together.
It was so much fun - one girl made a DJ turntable cake, which looked amazing, and we mostly talked, danced, and karaoke-d the night away to crazy 80s music. I love playing dress up and partying - makes me miss college days a whole lot.
My friend found these amazing '80s shades in church. Awe-some.
Friends from Austria and Moldova.
Friends from Taiwan and Brazil.
Our new team member's outfit was awesome (so was his pose in this picture). He claimed he thought the theme was 'awkward' because he didn't want to admit he didn't possess any 80s clothes. And yes, those are his actual pajama pants. haha.
Friends from Germany and the US.
The only guy from England at our program (and he looks a little like Mr. Bean, too). He's super sweet and nice.
My team - Mauritius, Singapore, Korea, US, Finland :)
The amazing DJ turntable cake.
Birthday boy :)
Starting the partayyy. Love these girls.
The whole group... trying to squeeze into the photo together.
For some reason, people like to tease my teammate and I as if we're couples with the guys next to us. But really, it's just harmless fun.
